I was late for my own wedding. The night before my wedding @marjorie.vt and I spent the evening at @vandervyverlynette and her husband's house, helping her make the confetti for our wedding. She used plants from her garden while we enjoyed a lovely white wine her husband made. It will always be a memorable night for me🌙

That's not the reason I was late, though. Just before we arrived at the chapel I realised we forgot the confetti at home. I accepted my fate of a confetti-less ceremonie, but my dad turned the car around. He didn't need to. I'm normally late for things, but he never is. So, I didn't expect us to turn the car around just for confetti, but I'm glad he did, because it wasn't just confetti. It was a precious evening spent with people who care.
Me and my dad quickly going back home to grab the dried rosemary and leaves from the table is a moment I'll always remember. While everyone else were lost in confusion of where we could be, the two of us were creating memories.

I finally read Coraline after all these years. Wish I had it in my bookshelf as a kid. I would have devoured every piece of it. Just I did now, as a semi-adult 🌙 After reading this story, I think I'll listen to my cat more. He seems to have this thing called 'life' figured out better than me, anyways.

Let's talk about The Binding. At least, this is my quick, spoiler-free review.

A love story intertwined with the magical art of binding your memories to a book🌈

I adored The Binding. The characters were charming, the story intriguing and the romance beautiful.

The Binding had been waiting in my TBR pile for almost a year before I finally picked it up. The summaries I read of it were a distant memory. So, when I started reading it, I had no specific expectations, except that there should be some magical book binding involved. I read some reviews on Goodreads the day I took these photos and came upon a review with a mediocre rating: Apparently the reader expected a lot more magic. So, I at least knew what not to expect. Otherwise, I might have also been disappointed.

I didn't expect the story to be a love story. I might have hoped for some romance, but I didn't expect the ovel to be a romance, before everything else. I expected book binding, magic and perhaps a bit of romance. Turned out this novel is first a romance, then about all the rest.

Oh, and what an amazing love story it was. Perhaps because it caught me by surprise? Or perhaps because it tested our protagonists' character. I found it innocent and honest. The love that developed within these pages drew me in. The love story is what made this book.

Afterwards, though I realised that there were a lot of loose strings that weren't tied. The romance took centre stage, and the rest of the story was somewhat neglected. We wonder about our antagonist, did he really get what he deserved? What happened to their families? What about the book binders? Unfortunately, the writer doesn't give us any closure to the many other causes of this story. It appears that the side stories only existed to support the love story and to make sure our romance could get to where our author wanted it to go.

I honestly enjoyed reading The Binding, and if you love a beautiful romance then you MUST read it. Just know that you'll have use your imagination when it comes to the rest of the world and stories the author created🌙

In a sort of reading slump again, but started with The Binding a few days ago. So, far I'm really enjoying it. There's still a lot of mystery at this point, and I'm hoping what is to come lives up to the expectation. Looking forward to the story pulling me out of my slump 🌙

I actually finished this book a while ago, and while I was at the winery today, recapping on the story for my post, I had a glass of @kirabo_cellar's uniquely crafted chenin, She Awoke.
·
Heart of Thorns is an exciting YA fantasy romance which I discovered, thanks to my mother-in-law. It reminded me of Sarah J Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses. Actually the other way around, since I read this book first.
·
Our heroine is an independent, strong-willed and kinda angsty character. She has a very black and white perception of the world, until one day she discovers that life is a bit more complicated than that - and in the process falls in love of course. 🌙

If you enjoy storylines similar to this one, or loved reading ACOTAR, then Barton's novel will be right up your alley.
