Wuthering Heights, your one stop book to melancholy and despair. The story of a life after a broken heart. Between these pages you’ll find passion and love, but more than that you’ll find a desire for revenge, you’ll find greed and people who are broken beyond repair.
“If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.”
Now, I know Catherine and Heathcliff’s love story gets referenced nearly everywhere, especially in other love stories. They were soul mates, they had a love so passionate that even death could not interfere with (and believe me Death is kind of a hardcore guy). I think though, that’s what made this story so miserable for me. Is it still love if it has become destructive?
A Gothic Romance
“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
