Reading The Tiger & The Wolf, the first book in the Echoes of the Fall chronicles, rekindled by reading spirit. It’s been quite a while since I truly embraced my love for books. Nothing I picked up seemed to get my full attention, and before I knew it, the book was just gathering dust again. So, when I started reading The Tiger & The Wolf, struggling with the foreign names whilst getting acquainted with the tribal traditions I didn’t expect to fall so deep in love with this story.

“The Wolf I follow is in here.” [He] tapped his chest. “He wants no sacrifice. He needs no man to die in agony by fire. He wants the clean joy of the hunt, the fresh snow, the wide sky and the moon. He wants a simple life that isn’t stained by other men’s ambition and greed.”

The girl with two souls, Tiger and Wolf, trying to survive the wrath of her parents whilst seeking her place in the world, crept into my heart. It’s a strong and serious story, with rich and complex characters, lightening the mood with their brutal honesty and strange friendships.

So, because I’m a bit of a fangirl, I sometimes find my everyday style influenced by the books I read or games I play. It can range from very subtle to extremely Avant Garde. It depends on my mood and courage.

The Inspiration

I was inspired by the cold North and dark forests that Maniye had to face in pursuit of her freedom. Yet, it’s also meant to represent her youth and the kindhearted girl that remains, in spite of the darkness that follows her. Also, it’s what I had in my closet that day.

I’m still reading book 2, The Bear & The Serpent. Can’t wait to get my hands on the third.

The Details

Dungaree I’ve had for years | Black mesh top from Zara | Shoes are always absent, but if the summer heat wasn’t so pressing I’d probably wear some brown lace boots with chunky socks | My ring is from Folkloriikka – my absolute favourite jeweller.

P.S. Read more about my take on The Tiger & The Wolf here.
